One of the objectives the GLS Bank is financing civic engagement. It demonstrates its responsible handling of money in the procurement of electricity, where the decision was made for 100% green power.

Procurement process

The executive board decides on the procurement of electricity. The technical/purchase manager prepares the decision, which affects all of the five GLS locations.

Measures

In the sustainability report the GLS Bank has committed itself to reduce the consumption of resources and to act environmentally friendly. Thereupon the decision for 100% green power is based, which it purchases from the electric power station Schönau (EWS).

EWS has combined the strictest criteria of the “Grüner Strom Label“ and of the “ok-power“-label. The TÜV Nord guaranteed compliance with the criteria. On the basis of this certificate GLS Bank renews its utility supply contract with EWS.

Success

By purchasing green power GLS Bank saves 82 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
