LEGOLAND Germany has been found on the 17th of May 2002 in Günzburg and has 1.3 mio. visitors yearly. A mixture of entertainment and playing education aims at families consisting of children between the age of 3 and 13. Environmental protection plays an important role for LEGOLAND Germany. The most recent development is the replacement of the whole vehicle fleet by environment-friendly natural-gas-run vehicles.

Procurement process

LEGOLAND Germany has entered a three-years-lasting strategic partnership with the „Trägerkreis Erdgasfahrzeuge“ to enable an effective change of the fleet to natural gas consumption.

Measures

LEGOLAND Germany is going to change its whole fleet to natural-gas-run vehicles and bought 24 cars of brands like VW, Fiat and Opel.

Success

Nitric oxide emissions will be reduced by at least 70 %. CO2 emissions will decline by 21,000 kg (25 %) followed by fine particulates which will vanish completely due to natural gas engines. Since about 50 % of the fuel costs will be saved because of the reduced costs for natural gas, the whole vehicle fleet spares a considerable amount of its budget.
