Procurement process

In June 2007 the HOWOGE Service Company (Servicegesellschaft mbH), which is a subsidiary of the HOWOGE housing association (Wohnungsgesellschaft), has made a cooperation agreement with GASAG. Emphasis is put into enhanced integration of natural-gas-run vehicles in Lichtenberg.

The idea to put natural gas run vehicles into service stems from the HOWOGE. The choice of the vehicles is based firstly on the underfloor natural gas tank and secondly on the monovalent drive. The drivers have been involved in choosing optimal vehicle types.

Measures

Six natural gas run VW Caddy EcoFuel vehicles are operated by the service company within the „Mobile Hausmeisterservice“ (Mobile Caretaker). With this, an exclusive natural-gas-run vehicle fleet is provided. A more spread operation of these types of vehicles within HOWOGE is not planned yet. Furthermore, an information campaign has been initiated to promote natural gas run vehicles to HOWOGE tenants.

Success

An evaluation of the measures to increase the usage of natural gas run vehicles in Lichtenberg will be made in 2008.
