Procurement process
The quality and environmental management is integrated into the company’s structure. Measures for environmental protection are checked and evaluated in regular intervals. With a main focus on public representation, it is possible to draw comparisons to other transport companies. The quality standards of ISO 9000 have been merged with the environmental management.
The responsibility for the environment is taken heed of during the whole process of procurement, usage and disposal of products. Environmental demands are already defined within the procurement process and will become contractual thereafter. Decisive reasons for a choice of vehicles or facilities are good fabrications, long life expectancies and low maintenance demands. Haru Reisen is partner for climate protection of 2007.
Measures
By introducing nine natural gas busses into the local transport system, an environmental goal has been achieved already in 2005. Commissioning these busses, the company plays an important role in improving the air quality in town since harmful substance emissions are low, there are almost none fine particulates emissions and nitric oxides are marginal. The EU project TELLUS supported the procurement process of the busses.
Success
Particulate emissions are reduced to a minimum and compared to traditional diesel busses, noise pollution is very low. Moreover, those new vehicles meet the strict nitric oxides standards of 2010 with low emissions.
