Photo of Ravensburg Since 1996 Ravensburg is an ecological model city in Baden Württemberg. In this context the district council for the field “procurement and awarding” decided that the city Ravensburg has to implement environmental friendly products in all administration divisions. This decision is part of the “Lokalen Agenda 21“ (LARA). (“Local Agenda 21”)

Procurement process

All IT-devices (PCs, Monitors, Printer), Copier- und Fax Machines are purchased by the main department according to the central procurement directives. The single departments are not competent for this purpose. IT-devices are generally leased, copiers rented and TFT-Monitors purchased. On the basis of current data the main department develops a detailed estimate for a call for tender after the tendering directives for deliverance. IT-Hardware is tendered once a year. The copiers are rented for four years. The computers will be replaced by the city in several steps. Old devices will be given back to the leasing company.

Measures

In the call for tenders for computers, copiers, printers and fax machines, the main department takes the performance and/or awarding criteria of the labels Energy Star, TCO (IT-hardware) and/or Blauer Engel as well as Nordic swan (Copiers).

Success

Old devices will be replaced continuously. With the purchase of 400 new devices (computers, TFT-monitors, printers) the city Ravensburg saves estimated 5.000 to 8.000 kWh and /or 650 to 1.050 Euro.
