Organisation of the procurement
The company devotes an important part of its activities to environmental issues. They look for suitable products and solutions from the economy, technology, and ecology point of view. The decisions for specific procurement are made according to results of careful consideration of optimum combination of several aspects.
Measures
The company expanded its fleet with three environment-friendly cars in 2004 and 2005. Toyota Prius (Hybrid Synergy Drive) was chosen for. (As a curiosity: the New York authorities made a decision on November 11, 2005, about a gradual and complete replacement of existent taxis with hybrid vehicles by Ford). The taxis are also equipped with a P-Box (Steinbauer Tuning Technologies, Ljubljana), a device for increasing of power by optimisation of fuel injection.
Success
The above described measures were accepted in public with notable affection. Some environmental parameters and reduction of costs are being monitored by the company itself. First results show that fuel consumption decreased on an average by 1l/100 km using the P-box, which represents a positive factor regarding running costs. More detailed environmental indicators will be available after further monitoring, evaluated according to the taxis’ mileage.
