Organisation of the procurement
Basis of the procurement rules are several decisions taken by the public administration, for example the decision avoid tropical wood or to use only environmental friendly detergents (project “take the shine off”). This is in line with the environmental awareness of the public administration and is also influenced by the department responsible for environmental issues.
Tendering is done if the purchased items cost more than 3,000 – 4,000 €.
Measures
In case household appliances are purchased, the minimum criteria asked for is the energy efficiency class “A”. For example refrigerators:
- about 5-10 refrigerators are exchanged annually
- in case of new buildings (e.g. new homes for elderly people), a larger number of refrigerators (130 for the last new building) are bought.
If washing machines are purchased, the minimum standard is “triple A” (class “A” for energy consumption, for whiz and cleansing effects).
For purchasing lighting devices, the standard followed is laid down in the German and the respective Austrian standardisations (DIN EN 12464 / ÖNORM EN 12464). In any case a professional light planning and calculation of the required light intensity is done.
