The Centre for Environmental Studies Foundation (CES) is a leading research, training and consulting centre for sustainable development in Hungary. CES was established in 1993 as an independent non-profit organization. Its mission is to serve as a catalytic institution for the environmentally sustainable restructuring and development of Hungary.

CES’s projects are focussing on the impact of the European integration process, sustainability in local communities, sustainable development and the business community. Its research projects investigate: the impact of privatization on industry and agriculture, the manner and extent of business contribution to sustainable development, opportunities for increasing the use of renewable energy in Hungary, as well as EU regional development policy on Hungarian regional and rural development.

The technical assistance service of CES targets local governments, business communities, NGOs, and citizens. Services include training, legal advice; assistance to proposal writing; facilitating domestic and international contacts and co-operation and assistance to developing local/regional sustainable development projects.
