DeTeFleetServices is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Deutsche Telekom stock cooperation. With more than 43,000 vehicles the company runs one of the largest German company fleets. Furthermore with its 532 natural gas vehicles, DeTeFleet attaches great importance to a balance between economy and ecology (Total Costs of Ownership) for its whole full service portfolio of vans and passenger cars.
Measures
The DeTeFleetServices promotes alternative propulsion technologies. To keep reducing the pollutant emissions of more than 43,000 fleet vehicles, the company plans to extend its stock of natural gas driven vehicles to 2500 by 2009. In 2006 alone DeTeFleetServices enlarged its fleet by 500 new natural gas driven vehicles and 10,000 diesel vehicles within the framework of “Erdgasoffensive 2006” (Natural Gas Offensive 2006). That is to say by the end of 2006 about half of the diesel vehicles were retrofitted by particulate filters, or have been using alternative technologies. DeTeFleetServices participates in the model project “Die letzte Meile auf der sicheren Seite“ (the last mile on the safe side) of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Saftey. DeTeFleetServices cooperates in the CEP (Clean Energy Partnership) – right now it is testing three hydrogen vehicles equipped with fuel cell technology.
Success
With more than 800 natural gas vehicles DeTeFleet runs the biggest cohesive fleet in Germany. At the beginning of 2005 DeTeFleetServices with its 30 natural gas vehicles applied itself for the project “Für die letzte Meile auf der sicheren Seite”. The emission values compared to gas and diesel vehicles are clearly lower. Possible prospective driving bans in inner cities do not hinder its mobility due to its modern vehicle fleet. The average consumption has been reduced from 7.72l/100km in 2005 to 7.66l/100km in 2006.
