Organisation of the procurement

The new construction of a school building was combined with retrofitting and was based on energy efficiency criteria. Following an energy audit given by O.Ö. Energiesparverband, the municipality implemented a number of energy efficiency measures and renewable energy installations. Since then in new investment projects, energy efficiency criteria are included as this is for example also the case when renovating street lighting .

Measures

  • New construction and retrofitting of a school building including energy criteria (low overall energy performance indicator)
  • Renewable energy installations on the new school building (PV plant, 3 kW)
  • Monitoring of consumption and monitoring of electricity produced by the PV plant (there is a board on the school entrance to show the results)
  • Energy efficient street lighting (new efficient lamps, reduction during the night)

Success

The municipality is very active in raising awareness among the citizens and wants to give a leading example to their citizens in terms of energy efficiency and the implementation of renewable energy sources. The main driving force of the acitivities is the vice major, who is since many years very active in implementing energy efficiency projects and in including energy efficiency criteria in the procurement procedures.
